COURSE DESCRIPTION
The theoretical classes will be focused on the knowledge of Physical and Field Anthropology, with special attention to Funerary Archaeology and everything necessary to carry out a good excavation of human skeletal remains.
This is not just another "pay to excavate" proposal. It is a practical and theoretical course, directed by university professors, with specific themes in each of the four weeks, aimed at those who want to delve into the practical excavation of a necropolis and the analysis of human skeletal remains.
EXCAVATION SITE
Archaeological Excavation Roman Villa of Santa Lucia, Aguilafuente, Segovia (Spain)
The X Practical Course on Physical Anthropology, organized by OsteoResearch and the Town Council of Aguilafuente (Segovia), will be held from July 8 to 20, 2024. The excavation will take place in the Visigoth necropolis located above the Roman Villa of Santa Lucia, in the town of Aguilafuente, Segovia. The course has an eminently practical character, designed to carry out all the activities related to Physical Anthropology in an archaeological site, complemented with laboratory practices and theoretical teaching.
TEACHERS
The teachers of the course are university teaching professionals with proven experience in the field of Physical Anthropology, Archaeology and Palaeopathology.

TEACHING
Mornings: practical work at the archaeological site from 8 am to 2 pm, under the supervision of the teachers.
Afternoons: The practical and theoretical classes will take place in the laboratory, with specific themes for each day.
Working days: Monday to Friday.
The maximum number of students will be 14. Admission will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Students may reserve their participation in the course at any time after April 2024.
ACCOMMODATION:
Rural Houses in the town of Aguilafuente, Segovia.
The costs of education, maintenance, accommodation and medical insurance are included in the price and will be borne by the Organisation.
The cost of transport to Aguilafuente at the beginning and end of the course is NOT included in the price.
The students will be accommodated on a full board basis, one kilometre from the excavation site and in the village of Aguilafuente, an important tourist enclave in the province of Segovia, and 35 kilometres from Segovia capital, a World Heritage City.
DISCOUNT
Price 350€ per week of course, to choose between the first or the second week.
For students who wish to enroll for both weeks, the total price will be 600€. Maintenance and accommodation will be included for the weekend of July 14.
